I'm am also International linen seller my friends asked me about the same conflict. My words was as,

“The fitted sheet has destroyed the beauty of the flat Sheet. There are only two benefits of fitted sheet I will say that, and that are it didn’t wrap-up with us at night and we don’t have to make bed every day every time on the other hand flat sheet has more benefits and importance of it.”

I’m siding flat sheet because “No need of flat sheet” is just hype so people will talk about bedding otherwise every bedding accessory is mandatory. As they complete your bedding set. Some more points from my side by siding flat sheet.

1. I think it is impossible to iron fitted sheet because of the elastic on its edge but flat sheet can be ironed properly.
2. It requires lots of time and effort to do half sassed job.
3. I find it hard to fold it properly because of thickness on its edge.
4. Just because we can’t fold it properly we cannot keep it in small place we need more space to keep it specially.
5. If there is hot night than we can use top sheet in place of comforter or duvet but we can’t use fitted for the same purpose.
